Junray Andersen cascade impactors are used for the collection of airborne aerosols containing bacteria or fungi. These devices come in 8-stage (ZR-A05), 6-stage (ZR-A02), or 2-stage (ZR-A01) variations. These impactors are precision-machined out of high-quality anti-corrosion aluminum alloy plates with successively smaller diameter holes. As the ambient air cascades through the different stages, the corresponding particulates impact the stage as the smaller particulates continue to travel through the stages until they are entrapped on the corresponding plate. These viable bacterial particulates are then incubated and then counted or analyzed.

The 6-Stage Andersen Cascade Impactor ZR-A02 is a multi-stage sampling device that complies with international standards and is used to monitor the concentration and particle size distribution of bacteria and fungi. It can truly simulate the deposition of human lungs to collect all particles, regardless of physical size, shape, or density, all with high accuracy and reliability.

A petri dish filled with agar medium is placed in each stage of the impactor to collect microbial particles in the air. During the sampling process, the microbial particles will remain on the culture medium due to the impact of the airflow. After the petri dish is taken out and cultured, we can count the total number of colonies or perform individual colony analysis.
